Your workstation stays put. Your tools don't have to.

The Session You Left Running

01 / Positioning

The machine keeps working. You stop being tied to it.

Your coding session lives on your Linux machine. Holster lets you carry it with you. The workstation, home server, VPS, mini PC or Raspberry Pi keeps doing the actual work — Holster is fast mobile access to the session that's already there. Less a miniature desktop terminal, more a purpose-built remote control for persistent developer sessions.

02 / Operation

Four steps to a session in your pocket.

01

Machine

Save the machine

Host, port, username, and an SSH key or password. Secrets go into platform secure storage, never alongside machine metadata.

02

Readiness

Check what's installed

A one-shot probe reports which tools the machine actually has — tmux, git, claude, codex — and flags the required ones that are missing before you rely on them.

03

Workspace

Define the scope

A workspace is a single repo, a parent directory holding several repos, or any custom path. The launch scope is explicit, so an agent starts where you meant it to.

04

Session

Launch and reattach

The agent starts inside a named tmux session on your machine. Close the app, lose signal, switch phones — the session is still running, and reattaching picks it back up.

03 / Capabilities

Built for the way agents actually behave.

Accessory key row

ESC, TAB, arrows, slash, question mark and CTRL+C sit above the keyboard, plus per-agent shortcuts. Every key sends ordinary terminal input through the same PTY you could type into by hand.

Voice input, reviewed first

Dictate a prompt and it lands in an editable field. Nothing is auto-submitted — you read the transcript and press send yourself.

Readiness probe

Before a session matters, Holster tells you whether the machine has the tools to run it, with versions where they're reported.

Your terminal, your colors

Background, text color, size and typeface are yours to set, down to a hex value — and the terminal itself follows the theme you pick.

Local key handling

Private keys and passwords are held in the platform secure store. They are not written into the metadata database and are not sent anywhere else.

Persistent by default

Sessions are tmux sessions. Long builds, long installs and long agent runs survive the app being closed, backgrounded or killed.

04 / Pricing

$9.99 once. Not $9.99 every month.

You already own the computer. Holster sells a better way to carry access to it — so the terminal isn't behind a subscription, and the free tier isn't a demo.

05 / Independence

What Holster is not.

Paper Holster is an SSH client for terminal coding-agent CLIs already installed on your own machine. It does not implement or proxy any AI provider's API, does not require an Anthropic or OpenAI API key, and does not route your terminal traffic through a product-controlled server. Prompts and terminal content are not collected by default.

Claude, Claude Code, Codex, and related marks belong to their respective owners. Paper Holster is an independent client and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Anthropic or OpenAI. “Paper Holster” is a working product name pending trademark clearance.
